Chiranjeevi Quits as MLA For United AP

The move for creation of separate Telangana appeared to be making no no signs of progress as those inChiranjeevifavour of a united Andhra Pradesh stepped up their campaign with Chiranjeevi quitting as MLA, making a u-turn on his party's pro-Telangana stand.

On a day Chief Minister K Rosaiah laid the onus on resolving the problem on the Centre, non-Telangana legislators and MPs from the state met Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Home Minister P Chidambaram as part of their campaign against creation of a separate Telangana.

Sources in the delegation, speaking strictly on condition of anonymity, said they came back with the impression that the government was not in a mood to take the "next step" because in the "changed scenario" the chances of getting a resolution passed in the Assembly were remote.

Hence, the issue coming to Parliament now was also ruled out for the present, the delegation was given to understand.
