Sexy Heroine feels 'Unsafe' with Ram Charan
All the regular movie buffs might be already informed about sexy heroine Samantha refusing the offer of Ram Charan's 'Merupu' on the basis of unavailable reasons. While fresh heroines into the industry compete with seniors to snap the offers from Mega Heroes, Samantha has bravely put down the valuable catch.
Months after this Merupu miss; Samantha accepted the call from Rajamouli to play comfortably besides small time struggling actor Nani in 'Eega'. Here is the important argument and what is that magic point which made Samantha to rule down Ram Charan's offer and accept Rajamouli's call?
If it is the 'Safe' standards of Rajamouli that made Samantha inclined, then one has to question about the 'Unsafe' range of Ram Charan that leaded to her declination. If the second easy answer is inspirational script of 'Eega' then does it mean that Samantha has found 'Merupu' script nothing novel and interesting? Was Samantha's decision to dethrone Ram Charan for Nani and Rajamouli is a wise one? Let us wait and see.

Pawan Kalyan, Jayanth film landing in troubles?
It is known that Pawan Kalyan is currently busy in the filming of his upcoming film tentatively titled as ‘Lovely’. The film is a remake of Saif Ali Khan’s Bollywood film, ‘Love Aaj Kal’. Earlier there was news that Siddharth’s ‘Bava’ had a central idea of this Love Aaj kal film. Since Bava resulted as a disaster at Box-Office, it remained overlooked by many of our audiences.
Now, a Tamil film titled ‘Chiku Buku’ starring Arya and Shriya was released recently in Kollywood and sources say that most part of the film’s story and scenes were taken from ‘Love Aaj Kal’ film. Now, the film-makers of ‘Lovely’ need to take necessary actions of not getting it dubbed in Telugu version. Otherwise, Pawan’s film will surely lands in trouble.
Selva Raghavan impresses Rana and his dad!
Earlier, Rana has signed up a film under the director, Selva Raghavan before the release of his debut flick, Leader. The movie was finally pulled down.
However, Selva Raghavan has again come up with a new script for Rana with an affordable budget and both Rana and Suresh Babu were impressed with this new subject. Rana who has been in the final schedule of Puri Jagannath’s ‘Nenu Naa Rakshasi’ will soon offer his dates for this film.

Mahesh Babu Exclusive Chitchat
Mahesh Babu is back from shooting Dhookudu in Istanbul in Turkey. Although the much-publicized Khaleja flopped, the super star is not in mood to bogged down by it. As promised to his fans before the Khaleja's release, he participated in stunts sequences conducted by Thumps up and met his fans at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. He spoke to the media.
You are doing risky stunts like Akshay Kumar does in Bollywood.
May be Akshay Kumar is the only action hero in Hindi cinema currently but every star in Telugu Cinema is by and large is an action hero. We thrive on action-oriented films, so I always do stunts that appeal to my audiences. So don't compare me with Akshay Kumar.
A lot was riding on Khaleja but the film disappointed your fans too. What do you see the reason for its dismal result.
I believe the gap that I had taken prior to Khaleja is the main reason for its failure. Expectations rose to peak as my film is hitting the screens nearly after three years. First thing, such a long gap is not right for any star to take. I did the wrong thing and it affected the film.
Tell us about the status of your current film, Dhookudu.
We have finished the first schedule of the movie in Istanbul. It is an entertaining movie and Srinu Vytla is packaging it with more action and entertainment. I am sure Dhookudu will not disappoint anyone.
You constantly aim for new looks. What is the get up in Dhookudu?
Let it be secret for a few more days. My firm belief is that unless you don't change your looks with each film, people would get boredom. So I have been trying different fashion clothes, hairstyle in each film from Pokiri. You will know my Dhookudu style very soon.
There is criticism that you speak to the media only when you have to promote a brand.
(laughs) No, that is not true. Primarily I am movie star and I always interact with the media for my movies too. Since I took long gap for Khaleja, I didn't have chance to interact with you guys and had to come for brand promotions. Anyhow, I am not complaining either. Brands are example of how popular a star is these days. So I am happy that all the big corporate companies are behind me.
Will you be doing more movies now?
Yes, you will see me in two films in 2011. That is for sure. No change in it. I have taken firm decision to do more films.
What about the remake of '3 Idiots'?
Yes, director Shankar sir approached me for the remake of ' 3 Idiots' but my dates are clashing with Dhookudu. So we are now trying to work on it. I will only talk about it after a couple of days.
SAKSHI is an idiotic channel : Ram Charan
Ram Charan's absolute childish mentality for the first time is shown on Twitter when he went on firing the Sakshi News Channel as 'IDIOTIC.' Media's over excitement is not for the first time to be heard about and the unleashed Sakshi News Channel after YS Jaganmohan Reddy's quitting the Congress Party may not spare anybody including Chiranjeevi family.
The primary connection here is that Sakshi has telecasted a program on the selfish attitude of 'Mega' heroes who cares only about remuneration and not the sympathy towards distributors who bear the financial brunt from their failures. Almighty knows what the best TRP ratings this useless program has secured for the channel but Charan's sudden blasting of Sakshi for calling ‘Orange’ a failure will do better for channel and an equivalent damage to this young hero who still has more to learn from his disciplined father.
"I live by my rules...I really don't care what is spread by few idiotic channels like SAKSHI. I have done a true character in orange and I LOVE IT," Ram Charan tweeted.
Now that every hero will love the character he has done but the belligerence in his statement to attack media house may not gel well with his three movie seniority. Mega Star Chiranjeevi immediately needs to pull the brakes of Ram Charan else the consequences that Mega Power Star needs to face in future may create further more headaches. Now, any of you dare to call 'Orange' a failure…you turn 'IDIOTS.'

JD's loose talk in reality show
One of the staunch followers of Ram Gopal Varma and also known as the 'extra' candidate of Telugu Cinema Industry, JD Chakravarthy is crossing limits these days, is the industry talk. The way JD is talking with the media people and the style he's addressing co-stars and actors along with some unconventional remarks are quite embarrassing.
While attending a singing reality show, JD is said to have commented the popular singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, the anchor of that program. JD stated that to bring Balu's voice into light, singers like him are really important. The 'geddam' villain should learn that to judge one's voice, their own voice is responsible and it is not some donkey's voice that can add sweetness to Balu's voice. All this seems to be the prowling effect of RGV's book 'Naa Ishtam', which states that do what you like and say what you did. JD Chakravarthy should notice that doing his own likes doesn't mean that he can do everything that lacks of minimum common sense.

Story
Surya (Suriya) plans a bomb attack to kill Pratap Ravi (Vivek Oberoi), but the latter escapes it with minor injuries. Pratap gets to know that Surya is son of Mahendar Reddy, who got killed by him. Pratap orders his men to kill who all helped Surya to plan an attack against him. Police takes Surya’s wife Bhavani (Priyamani) into custody and to ensure her safety, Surya surrenders to police. He reworks on another plan to kill Pratap by sitting in the jail.
Who is Surya? Why is he dying to kill Pratap Ravi? Flashback unfolds… Surya is son of wicked politician Mahendar Reddy who has brutally killed Pratap’s father and brother and in turn was killed by Pratap Ravi. Even after his father’s death, Surya doesn’t try to take revenge on Pratap. He plans for a peaceful life along with his family. But by then Pratap Ravi has turned a political power and orders his men to eliminate all his enemies. In that process, Surya’s family gets killed by the TV bomb placed by Pratap’s men. With his family dying for no reason, Surya avenges their death.
How and when Surya does executes his plans and kills Pratap Ravi is the conclusion of this story.
Artists Performance:
Surya is terrific. His eyes do all the talking in this film and RGV simply highlighted those eyes with his typical lighting schemes. Watch out for Surya’s eyes when he sits in the shadows and speak. He looks like a tiger on the prowl. His performance in the scene when his family gets killed in a bomb attack is outstanding. Vivek Oberoi, who looked convincing in the first part, is below the mark in this part. May be it is due to the sliding graph of his characterization in this version. The director deliberately made his character look weak here. Vivek is simply outdone by Surya in the only confrontation scene in between them.
Priyamani is perfect as Bhavani. Radhika Apte scores brownie points towards the climax. Shatrughan Sinha doesn’t have much to do here. Sudeep is as brilliant as always, and his presence is felt. Subhalekha Sudhakar is apt and so is Tanikella Bharani.
Final Analysis:
Ram Gopal Varma played cat and mouse game in the first part of this film. He has deliberately held back the ‘crux’ of this story to the second part and simply focused on giving details about Paritala Ravi’s origin and his growth as a politician. BUT, Rakta Charitra film is not just about that. It has not created so much buzz because of the content shown in part 1. Rakta Charitra is mainly highlighted and hyped because of the feud between Paritala Ravi and Maddelacheruvu Suri. Audiences have been waiting for this film to get to know in detail about what has happened between them.
Ram Gopal Varma, being a shrewd businessman, besides being a spectacular filmmaker, has cleverly made two films with single story. He made the first part of the film without even introducing Suri’s role. Hence, people who watched the first part were forced to wait for the second part to release.
But, unfortunately, Rakta Charitra 2 isn’t worth the wait. Ram Gopal Varma’s ploy to market his film and to make audience buy two tickets to watch a single film works on the economical front. However, the master filmmaker disappointed with his take on real ‘Rakta Charitra’. This ‘Reel’ Charitra is just made to cash on the interest that surrounded the real incidents.
Ram Gopal Varma simplified many things to his will and twisted the tale to his convenience. Did he do this out of pressure on him or did he grab only that much from the actual happenings? Only RGV knows better.
Rakta Charitra 2 is also a dragged film like the part 1. Ram Gopal Varma simply dragged the film to the maximum to make it count as a feature film. There are hardly four to five scenes in this film. Only that were repeatedly told or dragged for minutes together kicking the patience out of audience bodies and brains. Ram Gopal Varma should have made this one as single film and that would have made this look even better. Due to his deliberate ploy to release it in two parts and cash on the ‘substance’, Ram Gopal Varma has separated this one into two parts. Neither the story nor the treatment demanded this extended version. May be Ratha Charithram as a single film, would seem much better and packed than this blown up Rakta Charitra.
Despite the dragged screenplay and boring scenes, Rakta Charitra 2 has its moments. The attack on Surya when in court and the outburst of Surya after the death of his family is simply superb. Even the fight in the jail is praiseworthy. With these scenes, Ram Gopal Varma shows why he is at the top. His vision can bring any emotion on to the screen brilliantly, and the above mentioned sequences support this statement.
Climax of this film is the real spoiler as everyone is well aware of what has really happened. Had Ram Gopal Varma dealt this part with finesse, the final impact might have been several notches above than what it is now. Ram Gopal Varma might have removed most of his voice over part from volume 2 after receiving flak for his work in Rakta Charitra 1. That is a saving grace indeed.
Technicalities:
Back ground score is good but not as engrossing as in the first part. Dialogues are okay. ‘Bharya Bharya ki change untundi’ dialogue mouthed by Sudeep got audience in splits. Cinematography is one of the biggest plusses. Editing is Okay. On technical front, Rakta Charitra is good. No complaints whatsoever.
Plus Points:
- Surya’s performance
- Background score
Minus points:
- Too much twisting of the real tale
- Dragging screenplay and content less scenes.
- Poor climax.

Please use condoms : Anushka
Sultry Siren Anushka is raising condom awareness among the youth. The sexiest South Indian actress attended an event organized by Matrix head Nimmagadda Prasad to raise the AIDS awareness. Speaking to media Anushka on the use of condoms in the prevention of AIDS, she appealed to the young men to use condoms regularly.
"These days the young men are having many relationships in their life. Though the social organizations tried change the youth regarding this, there has been no significant change according to the statistics. All the youth has to do is buy a pack of condoms and always keep with them like a cell phone."
Anushka should be commended for her participation in a noble cause. Generally this is the work of doctors, medical related people and social organizations. But if celebrities like Anushka make such statements, then there would be a lot of change in the people's mindset. Let's hope men will consider Anushka's message

Too Many hands spoiled 'Ravishing Beauty'
It may be anything, but only the usage of it under one master will bring the required accolades. Like too many ideas spoil a good story, too many hands spoiled the ravishing hot 'Genelia' now. Nothing has happed to Genelia on the physical front, but it is on the professional side.
Bubbly Genelia is famous for her role 'Hasini' in Bommarillu due to the cuteness and youth factor it has shown. In the same lines, Bommarillu Bhaskar has designed the character of Genny for 'Orange' too. However, a number of involvements to mould her character have spoiled the final essence. It seems that, she is the only one went unnoticed in 'Orange' for poor performance. According to Film Nagar talk, three writers, one director and the big-fat producer are said to be the culprits in spoiling the value addition of Genelia's role for the flick.

National Media On 'Orange'
The new movie of Ramcharan Tej had brought in a lot of excitement and even the national media was quite curious to see its outcome.
However, it appears that the fruit has not been upto the taste of the audience as well as the media. Here are a few excerpts from the media folks.
NDTV reported that Ramcharan’s efforts to reinvent himself as a lover boy has not worked to the fullest.
The reason for that is attributed to a thin storyline which left the audience confused and dazed.
As for Rediff, they felt that it was an effort by director Bhaskar to explore a different angle of love amongst the youngsters. Though he tried his bit to catch the pulse of the youth, it looked evident that he was confused on what he wanted to convey.
The Rediff folks feel that Bhaskar may have lost his magical touch and ended up with a disappointment.

Asin's 'Hot Affair' In Mumbai
Asin is very serious of becoming the top star in Bollywood. She has been trying all the ways to get that done. After Ghajjini, Asin is getting no chances to act in Bollywood in main league. She is not ready to accept every film as she is worried about her image.
Recently she found Godfather in Neil Nithin Mukesh who was also struggling. He signed on Ravi Chopra’s ‘Pocketmaar’ a few days back. As soon as he signed, he recommended Asin’s name to Ravi Chopra.
Asin is now banking on not so popular Neil Nithin Mukesh to find break in Bollywood. Sources say that she is not hesitating to satisfy Neil in any manner to fulfill her desire.
Both Neil and Asin are seen having coffee together and also found moving together in various occasions, events and places.

Young Director's shocking concept
Just before the release of the movie, the young director has shown more guts that the film is going to do wonders. For its technical brilliance and strong script, Sesh Adivi stated that he is going to rewrite the history of Telugu Cinema. However, the Telugu audience waived a big hand to this NRI director also brother of Saikiran Adivi (Vinayakudu fame) on the first day itself.
Initially, the director has created some thrilling impact with his trailers and other promos. Sugar coated things like the Hollywood technicians and foreign heroine, attracted so many people to run into the theatres on the first day to check it. But, much to their enthusiasm, no one came out with a happy face and cheerful tone. Karma is the movie that deals with some cult practices, occult science and cannibalism that cannot be understood by any common movie goer of Telugu Cinema Industry. Despite the publicity in the name of 'Sai Kiran Adivi', who has won Nandi award for his first film, the film can be counted just for a few more shows..

Story
Set on the backdrop of Australia, Ram (Ramcharan) is an youngster who loves graffiti but he doesn’t believe in love for lifetime. He wants to say truth all the while with respect to love life and live with open mind, open thought and open action with his partner.
This leads to a clash of ideology with Jaanu (Genelia) who studies in the same college and what starts out as a romantic tale between them both turns out to be a relationship of confusion and complications.
Ram explains this entire story as his flash back while a police cop (Prakash Raj) asks him as a part of informal interrogation (!)
Jaanu believes in everlasting love but given the thought process of Ram, will they be together? Can they really love each other? All this forms the rest of the story.
Artists Performance:
Ramcharan did his best to fit the lover boy tag and he was neat in his dance and dialogue delivery. Two things he must avoid- a clean shave and full body shots while in a group. There was no emotional depth in his character so his body language was average.
Genelia was depressing and disappointing. Her costumes were bizarre, the make up was patchy and her face looked blotted. She has lost the innocence and charm. Perhaps it is age but the blame also goes to the styling and her image etching. Performance wise, she was regular and didn’t have any special acts.
Shahzahn comes like a breath of fresh air and though she was brief, she looks cute and attractive. She has the potential to take lead roles.
Prakashraj was regular, Brahmi’s comedy was not upto the mark, Prabhu and Pavitra Lokesh were alright, Vennela Kishore was wasted, Madhurima was quick but sweet, Naga Babu made his presence felt. The others didn’t have much to offer except filling the screens and rolling out few lines.
Highlights:
Songs (although no much variety among each other)
Dances by Ram Charan
Production Values
Disappointments:
Theme
Dialogue
Lack of comedy
Lack of emotion quotient
Characterizations
Final Analysis:
The fundamental blunder in the film is that when speaking about love it should be run on emotions and feeling but not on calculation. To make things worse, Baskar tries to explain the calculation with his own narrative style which was rather confusing. He had something noble and different in mind but he could not conceive it in the right manner on the screen. There is no emotion, no romance, no chemistry between the lead pair, no sentiment and above all, no comedy. At one stage, it becomes like a boring mathematics class where the audience have become students and are trying to understand what Professor Bhaskar is trying to explain on the love algorithm.
The other disappointment is the philosophy on love. While it is nice to have an ocean full of love, it is common sense that love alone is not life. They are two different entities and the essence of life is in striking a balance between both. Fortunately, what Baskar was trying to say ended up confusing many in the theatre but to those who may have understood a fraction of it, this is truly dangerous. On the other hand, there are quite a number of instances where Bhaskar tried to take the route of Gautam Menon but the difference is chalk and cheese.
The good side of the film is the songs and their picturization which was really impressive and visually appealing. Charan’s efforts in songs were commendable. The fight sequence which involves the spray cans was also creative and colorful. As for his much hyped sky diving stunt, that is not so appealing as expected.
Overall, the film is good on presentation but very poor in content and completely blotched on narration and concept. While the masses have nothing in it, the class audience will feel like they are in a classroom. And regarding the mega fans…well, it looks like 2010 is just not their year as their favorite heroes seem to be dealing with unconventional characters.
Bottom Line: Orange - No Juice, Full Of Seeds

I am scared : Ram Charan
Ram Charan is arriving with Orange after a magnum opus Magadheera. Just two films old in the industry, the actor has shifted tracks and genres with his third film Orange, a love story directed by Bommarillu Bhaskar. The film also stars Genelia D’Souza and Shahzahn Padamsee.
Ram Charan's exclusive interview
After a stupendous hit Magadheera, you chose to do a love story. Did you want to break away from that image and genre?
Not that I consciously wanted to do it but I had no other option. There will be no other story like Magadheera in the near future. So I chose a pure modern urban love story and could think of only Bhaskar as he has made a niche with his clean love stories which is ideal for a family audience.
Love stories are dime a dozen. How different is Orange?
In terms of characterisation, I have not seen anything like this before. It's very close to people's lives -- their day-to-day lives. There are truths in this movie, and it's educative. Every person -- young and old would have traces of this in their personal life as well. While making this film, I tried hard to get close to the character I play on screen.
Is the film a contemporary take on an issue or something fictional?
It's all about living a better life -- not about sacrificing but about understanding. We want the youth, the married couples and the aged to realise the intention of two people coming together. The movie shows a path of a better life, more hope, more love, more belief. This is what is lacking in today's relationships. It will lay a new path for relationships.
What's your role in the film?
The film unfolds from my character's perspective -- how the rest of the characters disagree to my way of living. I play an honest person whose love turns bitter because of his honesty. Here you will see only the character Ram. I play the character from the age of 16 to 25. I have not revealed this to anyone yet.
So, how was it shooting for this age group -- more so as a 16-year-old?
We worked backwards. We first shot the scenes where I am 25 years old first and then the ones where I am 16. I had to lose a lot of weight. I called my 16-year-old brother to the sets and interacted with him. I asked him questions, got his reactions and then portrayed the role.
Did you draw from your life when you were 16 as well?
There are traces of 16-year-old Charan in it -- you will see a shy 16-year-old on the screen.
You have two pretty young girls Genelia and Shahzahn in Orange. How was it working with them?
It was nice. I thought Orange was Shahzahn's first film as I didn't know she had done Rocket Singh earlier. I got to know about it later. She plays a character who is coming of age and added a lot of freshness to the character. She also did a song Rooba...where she put some life into it.
Genelia has done a number of movies. She has done this genre of movies like Boys, Jaane Tu.. She made me comfortable. She always surprised me. Even during rehearsals she would be innocent and we would think she didn't understand what Bhaskar said in Telugu. But when 'roll camera' was uttered, she would shock us. It was great to work with her. I would love to work with her in more films.
How was it working with Bhaskar?
He was different from my previous directors Puri Jagannath and SS Rajamouli, who were commercial directors. Working in Orange under Bhaskar was like a picnic. I used to wonder whether I was shooting because I used to do breezy scenes unlike in Magadheera where I was breaking people's hands. Bhaskar is strong in content as he is a writer and he handled the pressure well.
Expectations are high after Magadheera. Is that weighing on your mind?
I cannot run away. I am scared a bit. This may be a shock to the audience. It's easy in the industry to be slotted and I don't want that.
In today's times whether you like it or not, the division between mass and class entertainers is clear. Where does Orange fit in?
I don't subscribe to this division. If you go back in time, the film Khushi (Pawan Kalyan's) broke all norms of class and mass. Good cinema will always work. Orange is like universal cinema. These kinds of films should be promoted.
Your next project is Meruppu with Dharani -- a director who has delivered huge hits in the past. Meruppu is supposed to revolve around football...
Yes, it revolves around football. I wanted to do something sporty -- movies which connect with life than revenge drama. Sports connect to a wider audience.
How far has Meruppu progressed?
We have just finished one schedule.
Are you learning football for this film?
Yes, there is a trainer from Australia.
Have you signed any other project?
I'm doing a film with Krishnavamsi, the shooting of which may start when I am midway through Meruppu.
How does it feel to be Chiranjeevi's son? Is carrying the baggage difficult?
On screen, I have learnt to tackle it. Personally I have to learn to do it.
As an actor what are the kinds of films you want to do? How much would you want to push the envelope?
Pushing it for Orange was daring enough. I want to do 3 films a year though people say it may not be possible. Out of the three I want to do one which is meaningful, strong in content or an art film.
Are you getting used to losing your privacy and being under spotlight?
I don't go out much. Whenever I feel the need, I travel out of Hyderabad. Once in while I do want to sit in a coffee shop with my friends or have dinner in a restaurant. Yes, I miss that.
Do you have any time to indulge in pastimes?
I am into horse riding. I have four horses at my farm and spend a lot of time with them. I like reading self-help books, autobiographies and those on philosophy.

Orange Censor Review
Orange movie starring Ram Charan and Genelia in the lead roles is releasing on this Friday and the buzz before release is hitting an all time high. Orange advance bookings are setting cash counters on fire with almost every screen is being booked full for at least three days.
Meanwhile, Orange censor report has been making rounds among the film circles. As expected the film is classy in its appeal, say reports. First half of the film is extremely good with loads of entertainment complimented with beautiful songs.
However, Orange has reportedly slowed down in the latter half when compared to the first half as per the reports. Brahmanandam’s comedy as Puppy came in handy at that time, say reports. Each and every song is a treat to watch and that would be the USP of this film it seems.
Orange movie appeals to the youth and urbane crowds, claim reports. Doubts over the reception from masses are raising many an eyebrow. As Orange is carrying lot of expectations as it is the immediate film of Ram Charan after Magadheera, it has to satisfy the audience immensely to get that positive mouth talk.
Preview reports give us an idea that Orange movie is average to above average in range. We have to wait and see what would be the audience judgment for this film.
Note: Censor reports are just for information sake. These reports are contrary to the actual result most of the times. Therefore, don’t go by these reports and come to a conclusion over the final result.

Genelia’s contrast look to ‘Bommarillu’ in ‘Orange’
Genelia has scored lot of compliments and praises for her acting skills in Bommarillu. This is all due to her director Bhaskar. The duo is coming back with ‘Orange’. One who watched the teasers and trailers of the film can say that Bhaskar tried to show the actress in a more stylish way.
Genelia’s role in Bommarillu was modern but yet was seen with traditional costumes whereas in Orange the actress sported minis and micro miniskirts. Since the movie moves with Australia backdrop, Genny needs to look ultra modern and so the actress was shown sporting minis.
Speaking on this the actress says, “I don’t agree it as skin show or exposing. It’s a common dress for all the Australian girls living there. Being an actress we need to wear every kind of dress that is apt to the role. I personally believe that as long as I feel comfortable with my dress and do not feel embarrassed in watching my film with the whole family members, I do not mind sporting such costumes.”
